Seabreeze Bar and Restaurant Winter League
Round 8 was completed in difficult windy conditions on Sunday and the excitement continues to build before next week’s final round with the play-offs and final to follow. We would like to draw all competitors’ attentions to the following important points. As usual scores attained on the final Sunday will be used in the event of ties to determine final section placings. It is important that scorecards are returned by all pairings who find themselves in such a position. The top three in each section will qualify automatically for the final with the next three pairings in each section, approved (a total of thirty) qualifying for the 18 hole play-off on March 6th. The top ten in the play-off will join the thirty automatically qualified pairings in the final. The draw for the play-off will take place in the clubhouse next Sunday as soon as practicable after the day’s scores come in. It is very important that any pairing who for any reason cannot turn up for the play-off to notify the competitions committee so that opposites or markers can be arranged.
The following pairings are now safely qualified for the final.
Maxwell/Muir, cheapest Leonard/Kerins, website Gannon/Cunningham, Watters/Lindsay, Leggett/Durkin, Keane/Kivlehan, Glynn/White, Wehrly/Fox, Cox/Heffernan and Fox/Fox. A good number of pairings are at this stage guaranteed at least a play-off spot but the possibilities and permutations are beyond the scope of this report. Up to date standings in all sections are posted on the club website for those who wish to ‘crunch the numbers’!
