Seabreeze Bar and Restaurant Winter League
It seems an eternity since November 7th last and the start of the winter league 10/11. For the second year running serious weather disruption has led to a later than scheduled finish, viagra approved but finally on Sunday last proceedings were brought to a conclusion. Thankfully the rain, what is ed hail and sleet of the previous week stayed away but a good strong breeze provided a stiff test for all. This season’s winter league honours go to the father/son combo of Declan and Mark Rooney who regained the title in scintillating style. Their final score (+19 v par) saw them 5 clear of the pack. It’s worth noting that they produced the highest score on each final Sunday and remarkably completed the 36 holes, sales in some atrocious weather, without losing a single one! Congratulations all round to very worthy champions. Another father/son combo, Frank and Ronnie Conlon made a valiant effort to defend their title of the previous year but had to settle for second spot on +14. In third place on +13 came the Kilbride brothers Gerry and Colm who just pipped Frank Gannon and Martin Cunningham, also on +13, after countback. Dessie Timbs and Philip Moriarty produced a stroming performance to come from nowhere and snatch fifth spot on +10. Gerry McMorrow and Paddy Martyn made the most of their last gasp play-off qualification to record a highly creditable 6th place finish on +8. Scanlon/Conlon edged out Glynn/White on countback, both pairs +7, to place 7th and 8th respectively and the last two places in the prizes, on +6, again split by countback, went to Dykes/McCaffrey (another pair to produce a great second Sunday surge) and another father/son team of Gerry and Ruairi Fox.

The non-qualifiers event was claimed by stalwarts Tommie and Declan Basquille (+6) who were comfortably clear of runners-up Larry Culkin and Sean Conlon (+2).

So that’s the Winter League wrapped up for another year. Many thanks to Mary Mahon and all her team, Jason Kelly and his team and to all the competitors who make winter league such a special event. Winter rules are now lifted and the full course is back in play
