Attention Members
Due to issues with daylight it will not be possible to guarantee that all teams will complete 18 holes on the day. Therefore the committee has had to take the decision that the A Final will be played over 36 holes and the B Final over 18 holes (B9 on the 9th and F9 on the 16th). The draw for both will be published shortly.27/01/14

Attention Members
Anyone who is not available to play on both days of the winter league final please contact the shop and let them know as the draw will be made on Tuesday. That’s Sun 9th and 16th.The poor weather all week cancelled all the competitions and it wasn’t until Sunday until members managed to get out onto the fairways.

Strandhill Lodge & Suites Winter League
The final qualifying week took place on Sunday and once again the poor weather kept a few members away but those in contention stuck it out and braved the hailstones and driving wind. Considering the conditions there was some fantastic scores and most notably defending champions Gerry and Ruairi Fox managed  to finish 2 up but lost out to Pete and Liam Kavanagh who were 3 up and claim the 4th spot.

Section A
Tommy and Declan Basquille rallied to a great finish winning their last two matches to win the group by a single point. John O’Donnell and Cyril Meehan were runners up with Colm Martyn and Frank Hannon third. The final place went to Mickey McTiernan and Jimmy Noone who finished today 1 up compared to Jim Kenahan and Cyril O’Hara’s level.

Section B
Jim Coyne & Seamus Howley came out on top after a titanic struggle with Conor McManus & Dean McGowan who finished runners up. Reigning champions Gerry and Ruairi Fox left themselves too much to do and third place went to Larry Culkin and Pat McManus while Pete and Liam Kavanagh claim the 4th spot.

Section C
After leading from day 1, viagra Peter McDonnell & Ronnie Conlon finally lost out on the last putt on the final hole today to Noel Tivnan and Gerry Kilbride. I’m sure they won’t mind 2nd place though. Frank Gannon and Martin Cunningham finished a point ahead of Paul Conlon and Raymond Foley.

Section D
Group winners Declan Rooney and Tony Mannion finished with a halved match today. Second spot went to Colm Kilbride and Declan Glynn. Mark Wehrly and Rory O’Connor took third spot from Martin Farrell & Norman Ashe.

Section E
Robbie and Seamus Henneberry comfortably took this group with 16 points. Eddie Rushe and Steven Cawley claimed runners up with a halved match. Padraig and Eddie Watters sneaked into third place ahead of Gerald McTernan and Colm Rochford.

Section F
John Stewart & Enda Halloran sailed away with this group with a winning margin of six points ahead of nearest rivals Dessie Timbs and Ben Duignan. John Scanlon & T Conlon were third with FC Monaghan and K Conlon claiming the last spot.

Section G
Donal Barry and David Lindsay beat Michael Keane & Michael Kivlehan into the top spot after a 2 up score today while the Michael’s were beaten by Jimmy Glynn and Tony Quigley. Unfortunately for Jimmy and Tony it wasn’t enough to make it into the top final as their 1up was bettered by Stephen English and Jimmy Kiernan with 2up and they play in the finals instead. 3rd place in this group went to Declan McCabe and Jim Owens.

Section H
This was one of tightest groups of all. Leo McNally and John Martyn claimed top spot with a great win and score to edge out David Leonard and Stephen Byrne who played crap today. Brendan and Noel Gerrity were third and the final place eventually went to Michael O’Beirne and Rob Kelly. They were tied with Alan and Alan P Lilis and played each other today. They halved the match 1 down and even the back six couldn’t separate them. It took the last three on the card as they went to the last putt on 18 where Rob managed a five for a half but Alan missed his putt and lost the hole.

The first day of the finals will be held on Sunday February 9th with the B Final going out first. The timesheet will be on BRS and you will get an email in the next few days. Next weeks Sunday competition is not arranged as yet as the Ladies are a week behind on their winter league. Check the website or facebook for further details. Congratulations to the group winners and all who qualified for the main final and the B final is still there to be won. Stay tuned…..
