Connacht Shield Semi Final

The first competitive golf of the week saw Strandhill Golf Club take on Tubbercurry Golf Club in the semi-finals of the Connacht Shield on Monday afternoon. Tubbercurry were drawn as the home team for the semi’s which meant that 3 of the 5 matches were scheduled to played in Tubbercurry. A large crowd turned out at Strandhill to watch the matches that took place there and both matches were very close affairs with the lead changing numerous times. The quality of golf on display was so high that birdies were required to win a hole in most cases. Tubbercurry came out on top in both matches played at Strandhill but Strandhill fought valiantly in Tubbercurry to win two of the three games. Tubbercurry held on to take victory in the final game to ensure that they would progress to the finals. Strandhill Golf Club would like to wish Tubbercurry the best of luck in this year’s final.
