Return to the Fairways

For those of you who thought they were seeing an apparition on the golf course this morning, your eyes were not deceiving you. It was in fact Jimmy Kiernan, making a welcome return. Jimmy hasn’t played since the Winter League due to work commitments and it was like playing golf with one of the royal family this morning with all the waving that was done during the round. Good to see you back Jimmy.

Jimmy Bruen 2015

Commiserations to the Pierce Purcell team who lost narrowly to Ballymote in the match on Saturday. Conditions were difficult at both locations as the rain was persistent throughout. Strandhill were the away team for this round with two matches played at Strandhill and the remaining three played in Ballymote. Both matches finished at the twelfth hole in Strandhill with the Strandhill pairings coming out on top and facing an agonizing wait as all three matches in Ballymote headed for the 18th hole. It was a closely fought match but Ballymote did enough to secure victory by winning all three home matches.  We would like to wish Ballymote the best of luck in the rest of the competition.

Well done to all involved for their hard work in preparation for their respective matches. The team and club would like to thank David Lindsay and Robbie Henneberry for their excellent work in preparing and choosing the team this year.
