Course Re-Development

Phase one of the course redevelopment will commence early next year in February. This phase of the project will see the restructuring of the bunkers which will aesthetically and strategically enhance the course while also reducing course costs. This will involve the re-shaping of some of the bunkers and the re-positioning of others. It will also involve the filling in of bunkers that are superflous. The work is being financed from funds raised through the 50/50 draw and from course fundraisers held throughout the year.

The work will be carried out by golf course architect, Ally McIntosh who will give a presentation on the entire project and discuss the planned future developments which include the lengthening of existing holes, the addition of new holes and the re-sequencing of the current holes on Friday September 11th 2015 in the clubhouse. Ally will discuss all of the planned developments and answer any questions that members may have. All of the plans will be on display in the clubhouse shortly and will also be on display on the night.

The presentation will get underway at 8pm on Friday, September 11th and there will be free finger food available. We would love to see all of the members come along and support the project. A project that we can all get involved in to enhance the course we love.

Strandhill Golf Club EGM

There will be an Extraordinary General Meeting held in the clubhouse on Wednesday September 30th at 8pm. The intended business will be to consider and if thought fit, to pass revisions to the clubs bye-laws, a full draft of which can be downloaded via the following link:

Amendments to club bye-laws

50/50 Draw

This month’s 50/50 draw will take place this coming Friday evening after the Course Re-development presentation. Draw envelopes are available in the golf shop and are also on the tables in the clubhouse and on the bar. You can also sign up for a monthly direct debit which ensures that you are in every draw. Funds raised through the 50/50 draw go directly towards the re-development of the course.

Membership Tags

Membership tags are available for collection from the golf shop for those that require them. Please ensure your tag is attached to your golf bag and is clearly visible.

Junior Golf

Our Junior Golf program has been running throughout the summer months and there has been some fantastic work done by our Junior Conveners and volunteers who give their time so selflessly to help nurture the talents of our junior golfers. We have built on the success of previous years and this year we have seen the number of junior golfers swell.

To help continue the success, we are looking for volunteers from both the ladies and men’s branches to give up an hour of their time on a Tuesday evening at 7pm. Anyone interested in getting involved can get in touch with the ladies or men’s branch or just come along on Tuesday evening at 7pm.
